In my drafts...

I've gotten lazy with my blogging lately.  Every time I sign in to write a post it ends up in my drafts and I never go back and finish.

So here's a synopsis of what's in my drafts:

I'm nesting....hardcore.

I didn't realize it until I had a small breakdown about the baby's room. Nothing was turning out how I wanted it and I'll admit, I freaked out.  Steve gave me a hug and said, "it's ok babe- you're just nesting."  Well I'll be damned, I guess I am.

When I woke up this weekend all I could think about was what we needed to get done before the baby comes. Never mind that we still have the whole month of September and some of October.  I need it done now. (I am blaming all of my irrational behavior on the hormones raging in my body.)

The good news is, I haven't taken to cleaning the house from top to bottom with a toothbrush....yet.

Maternity pictures, yes or no?

After a lot of going back and forth, I'm getting some maternity pictures taken.  At first I didn't think I wanted to- but now I'm thinking, this could be the only time I'm pregnant, why not get some pictures taken?  The best part - I found a photographer I really like, who isn't very expensive, that will come out to my dad's farm (where I grew up) and take the pictures there.  I can't wait!

Birth plans are....

Scary, necessary, a wake up call...I could go on but I think you get the point.  So many questions.....and they make me nervous, but at least I feel prepared having a plan (what's that saying about best laid plans??)

When I first got pregnant I thought, hell yes I want drugs.  A few months in I thought, I should probably find out what all the options are.  And now, after reading, taking classes and talking to other moms my thoughts are this....I'm going to try my damnedest to go it all natural.  I don't like the sound of the epidural (numbness and inability to move my legs doesn't sound appealing) and the narcotics make me nervous for the baby's sake.  I don't want her coming out drugged and having a hard time latching.  But, I've obviously never given birth before and I won't rule anything out until I get there.

  1. I am also going to try to go natural...I am worried about the epidural too and I read somewhere something about that sometimes the epidurals can make the baby's heartrate drop too much and can result in a c-section....I read the Husband Coached Childbirth (bradley method) and I thought it gave some good relaxation techniques for natural childbirth! :-) Have fun nesting!

  2. Nice to hear from you. It's amazing what we are capable of doing without even thinking about it. Like driving all the way home and not remembering making a single turn. Now that you know you are nesting, I bet some freakouts are easier to take.

  3. Definitely sounds like you're nesting! Good thing you have at least a month so you can tackle it all one thing at a time. Don't get too stressed out!

You seem to have a very realistic idea about birth. Hopefully things go according to plan and you get the natural birth you are aiming for...

  5. I am so nesting too. I feel like we have a zillion things to do and not a whole lot of time to do it! I'm glad you decided to get some pictures taken and can't wait to see some :)

  6. Good for you for deciding to go the all natural route. I'm sure however your baby goes comes into the world will be the perfect scenario for both of you though. I hope you share some of your maternity photos!

  7. I think the biggest thing I have learned from talking to other mothers and doctors is that a plan will make you have some peace and control so that you have the experience you want . . . as long as you can take a deep breath and let those plans change if baby or nature decides to be bitchy, lol!
I know you will go with whatever flow your little girl needs. Glad you decided to do maternity photos to treat yourself :)

  11. We have about the same thoughts with the birth plan. No definite "I will/will nots" but just doing everything we can to get our babies here safely. I cannot believe you are so close, the time has flown! I'm so excited for what's ahead and can't wait to give this little girl a big welcome in blog world!!!
