Happy...or not so happy...Halloween

I'm sure there will be 9 million Halloween posts floating around today and I'm going to be one of them!

We picked Emily and Gavin up from school yesterday and Emily wasn't as happy as she normally is after school.  I'm not sure if she was tired or what, but I barely got her costume on her after a 30 minute tantrum.

clearly, I torture her

G buddy was all smiles and happiness to be in his costume, of course.

Our town doesn't have trick-or-treating (what??) so my mother-in-law called a couple of our neighbors to ask if they would let Emily and Gavin come over to trick-or-treat.  It wasn't cold out but it was raining, so out came the umbrellas and off we went.

We went to three houses plus Grandma and Grandpa's house and Emily insisted on having her paci and cried most of the time.  She just kept chanting "grandma's house, grandma's house".

sharing with her brother
Emily was a 50's girl and her favorite part of the costume were those glasses!  Gavin was Charlie Brown and might I add, the cutest Charlie Brown ever!

Grandma & Grandpa have the best treats!

All in all it was a good night, just a little tiring for mom & dad!

Happy Halloween everyone!

  1. I love that she’s crying in the first picture (I think) yet she still has her glasses on. If that was Chloe, she would have chucked them across the floor in a heartbeat!

No trick or treating, whaaaa?? Glad the kids got to experience it a little bit though.

And I agree, I was really looking forward to taking them out, but for some reason between trick or treating ourselves and then coming home to hand out candy and attempt to get pictures of the kids, I was exhausted and ended up with a headache. But I'd do it all over again. :)

  2. Oh I love this. I'm sorry it was hard but at least it was memorable? LOL!

B didn't want to put her costume on either. Drove me nuts because I literally had to hide it from her the few days before because she would melt down if I tried to take it off. Go figure... Halloween is a small for of mom torture.

That last pic of G is priceless!

  4. Your kids' personalities are so different!!! They are both adorable in their costumes though! That is crazy about no trick or treating.

Avery trick or treated at my office, had three pieces of candy and fell asleep on the way home at 4:30. She crashed, thank god or I just can't imagine the attitude we would have been dealing with!

  5. What? no trick-or-treating in your town? Do you secretly live in an Amish community and just never told us?
That HB is such a moving target, but she sure is cute as a 50s girl. And G is definitely the cutest Charlie Brown there is!

  6. They are most certainly the cutest! I can't believe there is no trick or treating there. Wow. At least your neighbors were willing to help out!

  7. Ohh toddlers!!! Always making things a bit more difficult, eh?! :) Hey, at least they were both soooo adorable right!? LOVE both of their costumes!! And hey, can you blame Em for just wanted to head to Grandma and Grandpa's instead of lots of other houses? ;)

Oh and also, no trick or treating?! How odd. So nice of your neighbours to do that for you and the kids!!
